Introduction

The Townsville Marksmen Rifle Club (TMRC) Incorporated and its funding experience with Queensland Government sports funding agencies is the primary source of information in this article. In addition TMRC made application to two regional private sector funding agencies but they played no part in range developments.

In an attempt at clarity and as a ready reference, this article will be largely presented in dot point format. Further, readers need to be aware that these notes are presented as a guide only and are not meant to be definitive.

The highest scoring Target Rifle, F Class Standard and F Class Open competitors in the combined Queens Aggregates of the NQRA and NT Queens 2014 have won free entry to the 2015 NQRA Queens.

Target Rifle: Helen Griffiths, Pacific, combined score of 776.63

F Class Standard: Ron Betts, Darwin, combined score of 899.38

F Class Open: Alan Fraser, Stratford/Maffra, combined score of 908.64

The latest version of the NRAA SSR’s is now available. Rules are current as at 1 June 2014.

It contains the F/TR Rules and the latest rule alterations from the May 2014 NRAA Board Meeting.

As well, the first few pages contain references to ALL THE RULE CHANGES since the last hard copy of August 2011.

Paraplegic shooting legend John Baxter presented with NQRA life membership

The Tablelands shooting community last week honoured a legend who has given more than 60 years of service to the sport.

John Baxter, 74, was presented with a North Queensland Rifle Association (NQRA) life membership at Ozcare aged care facility, Malanda, on Wednesday.

Baxter has a distinguished background in the sport, winning dozens of state competitions, participating in representative teams interstate and qualifying for an Australian team.

But his determination to overcome adversity sets him apart from other skilled sportsmen.

The NRAA is calling for nominations for Captains for F Open, F Standard and F/TR Teams for the proposed teams trip to NZ in January 2015. Please go to the NRAA website for more information.

At the November 2014 Annual General Meeting of the NRAA, the States and Territories passed a motion that the F/TR Discipline be included in competitions available for Organisations wishing to include it. Also that the F/TR Rules be included in the SSR’s.

The F/TR Rules were extracted from the ICFRA Rules and are as much as possible a copy of ICFRA. Other rules have been included to enable the F/TR Rules to fit in with Australian conditions, such as Time Limits, Safety procedures, Targets, Scoring Procedures, Super V’s and other values etc.
