Australian Veterans Rifle Team - Call For Nominations

AUSTRALIAN VETERANS RIFLE TEAM WORLD LONG RANGE CHAMPIONSHIPS, CAMP PERRY USA, 2015

The NRAA board are pleased to promulgate the below. These teams will be travelling to Camp Perry in 2015. We have been advised that there will be a dress rehearsal match in 2014 but this will be a very small contingency going for a reconnaissance tour. We are currently in the early stages of putting together an estimated budget for this tour which is indicating approx $6000 per person. Once the 2014 tour is completed we will be able to provide an actual tour budget based on all aspects including the Individual Championships and the Teams Championships. These will be clearly outlined for those that wish to only compete in the teams Matches.

I have been honoured to be selected by the NRAA as Captain of the Australian Veterans Rifle Team to compete at the World Long Range Championships at Camp Perry, USA in July/August, 2015. The team will be defending the WLRC title, which Australia won at Belmont in 2011. I was fortunate to also be Australian Captain of that team, and apart from the obvious skills needed as wind coaches and shooters, all members of that team displayed an outstandingly positive attitude.  We focussed on team spirit, and made a commitment to exclude petty politics, prima donna behaviour and egotism, with wonderful effect.

My expectation for prospective team members is that they will embrace the same attitudes and commitment. The Team will consist of Captain, Manager, Main Coach/Tactician, 2 Wind Coaches and 12 shooters, including reserves.

I invite and encourage NRAA members who will have reached the age of 60 years by August, 2015 to nominate for the positions of Manager, Coaches and/or shooters for this team. Spouses, partners and attached members are welcome.

Nomination forms are available from the NRAA office and can be downloaded from the NRAA website. Completed nomination forms are to reach the NRAA office by Friday, 27th December, 2013. In the meanwhile, I invite requests for more specific details if required.
