Paraplegic shooting legend John Baxter presented with NQRA life membership

Shooting legend's life honourThe Tablelands shooting community last week honoured a legend who has given more than 60 years of service to the sport.
John Baxter, 74, was presented with a North Queensland Rifle Association (NQRA) life membership at Ozcare aged care facility, Malanda, on Wednesday.
Baxter has a distinguished background in the sport, winning dozens of state competitions, participating in representative teams interstate and qualifying for an Australian team.
But his determination to overcome adversity sets him apart from other skilled sportsmen.

At the November 2014 Annual General Meeting of the NRAA, the States and Territories passed a motion that the F/TR Discipline be included in competitions available for Organisations wishing to include it. Also that the F/TR Rules be included in the SSR’s.
The F/TR Rules were extracted from the ICFRA Rules and are as much as possible a copy of ICFRA. Other rules have been included to enable the F/TR Rules to fit in with Australian conditions, such as Time Limits, Safety procedures, Targets, Scoring Procedures, Super V’s and other values etc.

The 2014 F Class National Teams Championships were contested on the Campbelltown Rifle Range in Tasmania from 2 to 5 March with 8 F Standard and 6 F Open State & Territory teams participating.
The NQRA F Standard Team consisting of John Lorimer (Captain-Townsville), Jim Blomfield (Coach-Bowen), Vicki Cusick (Manager-Cairns) and shooters Shane Green, Steve and Charles Lazarus (Cairns) and Liz and Murray Wilson (Ravenshoe) had a disappointing start at the 300yds range.
