  • New SSRs Version 5.0(C) as at 1 November 2016

    Only a couple of Rule Changes:

    rules 3.3.5 and 4.2.1.15 – These refer to the Rules about “Blow-Off” or Fouling shots. The NRAA has removed the restriction on these. In line with common practice in the ICFRA Rules they are now allowed. However the Board does not propose to adopt the practice of allowing a “Blow-Off” period on the first range of the day. Shots at a venue such as a Zero range are acceptable.

    Future Format Plus – Program for South Australia

    At the NRAA Board Meeting held on 23rd August 2016 the results of the Interstate Survey about the future format of Interstate F Class teams matches were tabled.

    There was an overwhelming preference for OPTION 1 in the survey, therefore the Board have decided to adopt this for future events, commencing in South Australia in May 2017.

    • Day 1 – Practice sessions then Match 1 - 20 shots at 1000 yds.
    • Day 2 – Match 2 - 15 shots at 800/900/1000 yds.

  • Failure by a Wilbern Model M90 Rifle

    Take Note that on the 25th May 2016 a Wilbern M90 308 Winchester rifle failed whilst the round was being loaded.

    Thankfully no-one was seriously injured.

    An examination of the rifle has been carried out and any person owning such a rifle is strongly advised to contact the NRAA for a copy of the Technical Officer’s report and recommendation and contact the manufacturer of the rifle to have corrective repairs carried out.

    There is a new version of the SSR’s as at 23 May 2016. There is only one Rule altered which is Rule 2.1.5. The Rule is about keeping the rifle pointed in a safe direction when shooters are vacating the mound.

    The New Rule 2.1.5 is:-

    2.1.5 Retiring From the Mound

    (a) Before retiring from the mound each competitor must go through the unloading motions with the muzzle pointing towards the target and then remove the bolt from the rifle.

  • NRAA National Rankings System Now in Place

    The NRAA has re-instituted a National Ranking System which is now permanently in place on the NRAA website.

    The system has been extended to included B and C Grade rankings and there are two pages on display; one for A Grade Rankings in all disciplines and the other for B & C Grades where appropriate.

    The Ranking System is calculated using result percentages from the National Grading System. Shooters who have registered a minimum of 5 scores are included in calculations, with the maximum being the most recent 8 scores. Each time a competition is entered into the National Grading…
